GHMC takes major action on illegal constructions following High Court's strict warning

GHMC Commissioner Orders Seizure of Illegal Constructions After High Court Criticism

GHMC Commissioner R.V. Karnan has issued a circular ordering officials to seize illegal constructions in Hyderabad. The circular mentions that buildings constructed without approval or those violating approved plans must be sealed. If people are already staying in such buildings, they should be asked to vacate within three days. The entry and exit points, including stairs, lifts, and ramps, should be closed using red ribbon tape.

Following serious comments from the High Court about GHMC's negligence, officials have taken a strict decision to act on unauthorized constructions. The court questioned how illegal buildings were being constructed under the watch of local officers. GHMC has now decided to enforce the GHMC Act 1955, Section 461-A, and TG-bPASS rules strictly to seal and take action on these illegal structures.

The High Court, during a recent hearing, strongly criticized GHMC officials for ignoring illegal constructions until they are fully built. The court asked whether officers were intentionally turning a blind eye. It expressed anger over the increasing number of such structures and blamed it on officer negligence. In response, GHMC has decided to act tough from now on.
