Vaibhav Suryavanshi Shines in Kohli’s Jersey… Young India Defeats England!

India Under-19 Team Achieves Big Win Over England in First Youth ODI

Opener Vaibhav Suryavanshi played a blazing innings scoring 48 runs off just 19 balls. Wearing the iconic No. 18 jersey, famously associated with Virat Kohli, the young player led India to a strong start in the series.

In the first match of the three-game series held yesterday at Hove, the India Under-19 team defeated England Under-19 by 6 wickets. Vaibhav’s explosive batting with 3 fours and 5 sixes laid a solid foundation for India’s victory.

England captain Thomas Revey won the toss and elected to bat first. However, India’s bowlers put up a tight bowling performance, restricting England’s batsmen. England’s all-rounder Andrew Flintoff’s son, Rocky Flintoff, stood out with a steady half-century, scoring 56 runs off 90 balls. Isaac Muhammad also contributed quick runs with 42 off 28 balls. Despite their efforts, other batsmen failed to score, and England was all out for 174 in 42.2 overs.

Among the Indian bowlers, Kanisk Chauhan impressed by taking 3 crucial wickets for just 20 runs. Muhammad Enon, Henil Patel, and RS Ambarish also took two wickets each, helping to keep England’s score low.

Chasing a modest target of 175, India’s opener Vaibhav Suryavanshi gave a powerful start. India crossed 70 runs in just 8 overs, thanks to his aggressive hitting. Vaibhav was dismissed in the 8th over by Ralphie Albert, but by then India had built a strong base. The remaining batsmen comfortably finished the chase with 26 overs to spare.

With this win, India leads the three-match series 1-0. The second ODI is scheduled for June 30, and the third on July 2 in Northampton. Following that, two more ODIs will be played on July 5 and 7 in Worcester, along with two four-day matches.
