The Telangana Board of Intermediate Education is planning to conduct the annual Intermediate exams by the end of February this time, instead of March. The idea is to give students enough time to prepare for national-level entrance exams such as JEE and NEET. The board has sent two proposed schedules to the state government for approval, suggesting the exams begin on either February 23 or February 25, 2026.
Since Chief Minister Revanth Reddy also holds the education portfolio, the final schedule will be released once he approves the proposal. In previous years, exams were delayed to March due to the COVID-19 pandemic, causing pressure on students preparing for competitive exams. By advancing the exams by a week, the board hopes to ease that stress and improve results.
The board has also proposed a hike in exam fees — from ₹520 to ₹600 for non-practical courses, and from ₹750 to ₹875 for practical courses. This adjustment aims to align Telangana’s fee structure with other boards like AP and CBSE. Around 9 lakh students are expected to appear for the upcoming Intermediate exams across the state.
