The logo of Sammakka-Sarakka Tribal University was unveiled by central ministers. Central Minister G. Kishan Reddy expressed his delight over the establishment of the university, calling it a landmark initiative. Minister of Education Dharmendra Pradhan stated that the university would serve as an educational hub for tribals not only in Telangana but also across the bordering regions of Maharashtra and Chhattisgarh.
Named after the iconic Sammakka-Sarakka festival, the university aims to preserve and promote tribal traditions in Telangana. During a special event in New Delhi, Ministers Dharmendra Pradhan and G. Kishan Reddy officially unveiled the university’s logo. Kishan Reddy highlighted the significance of establishing a university in honor of Asia’s largest tribal festival and mentioned that the Telangana government has already allocated land for the institution. He also requested Minister Pradhan to expedite the construction process. He thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan for their support in the university’s establishment.
Allocation of ₹800 Crores – Future Plans
Minister Dharmendra Pradhan noted, “The university has been initiated under the vision of PM Modi and the efforts of Kishan Reddy. Over ₹800 crores have already been allocated. This university will serve as a major educational center for tribals in Telangana, Maharashtra, and Chhattisgarh.”
He emphasized the need for courses aligned with local tribal culture and traditions, including Ayurveda, tribal food systems, languages, and heritage. He suggested incorporating instruction in tribal languages, promoting sports skills, and focusing on creative research.
Creative Logo – Recognition for Tribal Languages
The university logo creatively incorporates words from various tribal languages, making it unique and symbolic. Pradhan appreciated the innovative design, calling it an excellent initiative that celebrates tribal culture and identity.
