Rio Tatsuki’s Tsunami Prediction Sparks Panic in Japan – Tourism Sector in Trouble

A comic book titled "The Future I Saw" by Japanese author Rio Tatsuki is creating panic across Japan. The manga, published in 2021, includes a prediction that a massive tsunami will hit Japan on July 5, 2025. This has gone viral on social media, causing fear among both citizens and tourists.

Due to the rumor, thousands of tourists are canceling their travel plans to Japan. Bookings in many areas, especially in Tottori and coastal regions, have dropped by 30–50%. Some airlines have reduced their services. Experts estimate that the tourism industry could suffer a loss of 560 billion yen (around $3.9 billion USD).

However, Japan's government and scientists have denied these predictions. They clarified that earthquakes and tsunamis cannot be predicted accurately, and the comic is purely fictional. Even Rio Tatsuki herself has urged people not to panic and to trust official sources. Despite this, the social media panic continues to affect the tourism industry.
