Prakasam Barrage Flood Alert: Heavy Inflow, Villages on High Alert

Flood inflows into Prakasam Barrage in Vijayawada are rising rapidly. At present, 3.25 lakh cusecs of water is reaching the barrage, and the same amount is being released downstream through all gates.

Officials estimate the inflow may rise to 5 lakh cusecs by afternoon and touch 6 lakh cusecs by evening. The Disaster Management Authority has warned of possible danger in Lanka villages along the Krishna River.

People have been advised to stay alert and avoid crossing streams or canals. District authorities in flood-prone areas have been instructed to remain on high alert, said Disaster Management Authority MD Prakhar Jain.
