Heavy rains in Telangana have caused the Krishna River to swell with floodwaters. As a result, large inflows are reaching both the Srisailam and Nagarjuna Sagar reservoirs. The Nagarjuna Sagar Dam is now almost at full capacity. Out of the total 26 spillway gates, 24 have been lifted to release water downstream.
At present, the inflow into Nagarjuna Sagar is 1,74,533 cusecs, while the outflow is 2,33,041 cusecs. The dam’s full reservoir level (FRL) is 590 feet, and the current water level stands at 589.30 feet.
The full storage capacity of the dam is 312.04 TMC, and it currently holds 309.95 TMC. Authorities have advised people in downstream areas to be cautious as water levels in the Krishna River continue to remain high.
