Mumbai Rains: Heavy Downpour Disrupts City, 17 Local Trains Cancelled, Orange Alert Issued

Heavy rains are causing major disruption across Maharashtra, especially in Mumbai, the financial capital of India. Several low-lying areas in the city are waterlogged, bringing daily life to a standstill. The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an orange alert for Mumbai today.

Local train services are severely affected, with 17 trains cancelled due to waterlogged tracks. Flights are also impacted, and airlines like Indigo and SpiceJet have issued advisories for passengers, warning of possible delays or cancellations. Travelers are advised to check flight status before heading to the airport.

Several main roads in Mumbai are flooded, creating difficulties for commuters. Due to the heavy rainfall, authorities have declared school holidays in Thane, Navi Mumbai, and Lonavala. Government and private offices are functioning partially. The Bombay High Court also suspended activities at 12:30 PM due to waterlogging.

The IMD predicts that rainfall intensity will reduce from Thursday onwards. Authorities urge residents and travelers to remain cautious and follow safety measures.
