Lokesh Questions Telangana on Regulatory Approval for Kaleshwaram Project

Amaravati, July 31: Andhra Pradesh minister Nara Lokesh supported the Banakacherla project and questioned if Telangana had taken the required permissions for the Kaleshwaram project across the Godavari River. He said AP never tried to stop Telangana’s projects, so why object to AP’s plans that aim to divert extra Godavari water to Rayalaseema?

Speaking at a press meet, Lokesh said some people were trying to create regional divisions for political gains using the Banakacherla issue. He stressed that AP is only using water that flows into its region after Telangana. “Do you have approvals for Kaleshwaram? Why object to our project?” he asked.

He also spoke about the liquor scam, claiming that huge sums of money were moved through cash and cheques. Lokesh accused Jagan Mohan Reddy of being involved, stating that the criminalisation of politics must be stopped. He added that TDP always supports unity among Telugu people and does not work against Telangana.
