KL Rahul Becomes Fastest Indian to Score 8,000 Runs in T20 Cricket
Indian star batter KL Rahul has reached a special milestone by becoming the fastest Indian to score 8,000 runs in T20 cricket. He broke the record previously held by former Indian captain Virat Kohli.
Rahul achieved this on Sunday evening at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi during an IPL match between Delhi Capitals and Gujarat Titans. Playing for Delhi Capitals, Rahul reached 8,000 runs in the sixth over of the innings, hitting a four and a six off bowler Kagiso Rabada.
He reached this milestone in just 224 innings, 19 innings faster than Virat Kohli, who took 243 innings to reach 8,000 runs.
Worldwide, KL Rahul is now third fastest to reach 8,000 T20 runs. West Indies legend Chris Gayle is first (213 innings), Pakistan’s Babar Azam second (218 innings), Rahul third, Kohli fourth (243 innings), and Pakistan’s Mohammad Rizwan fifth (244 innings).
KL Rahul’s strong performance includes six centuries and 69 half-centuries in T20s. Before the match, he needed 33 runs to reach 8,000, and he achieved it during the powerplay.
In an important decision, Delhi Capitals promoted Rahul to open the batting for this match, although he usually bats at number four this season. This was done considering the playoff race and the importance of the match.
