India Hosts UN Meeting on Lord Buddha’s Teachings to Celebrate International Vesak Day

New York, May 16:
The Permanent Mission of India to the United Nations in New York held a special event to celebrate the International Day of Vesak. The event was a panel discussion titled “Teachings of Gautama Buddha – a Path to Internal and Global Peace.”

Many important diplomats, scholars, and spiritual leaders from different countries attended the event. They talked about how Lord Buddha’s teachings are still important today to help solve world problems and bring peace.

India’s representative to the UN, Ambassador Parvathaneni Harish, said that Buddha’s message of kindness, non-violence, and wisdom can help people find peace inside themselves and in the world. Professors from Nalanda University and other experts also shared how Buddha’s teachings can guide us in modern times. Vesak is a very special day for Buddhists, marking Buddha’s birth, enlightenment, and passing. The UN officially recognizes this day to honor Buddha’s contribution to peace and spirituality worldwide.
