Himachal Pradesh is facing severe floods and landslides due to heavy rainfall. In just the last 32 hours, rescue teams have saved around 332 people. The worst-hit area is Mandhi district, where more than 248 roads have been blocked. Across the state, over 400 roads are closed and power supply is badly affected.
So far, 10 people have died and 34 are still missing. Many areas in Mandhi, Hamirpur, Chamba, and surrounding places have reported landslides and cloudbursts. Several houses, animal sheds, and a bridge were destroyed. The National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) and SDRF teams are working day and night to rescue the trapped.
The Chief Minister announced that the state suffered a loss of ₹500 crore due to the floods. In Mandhi, 994 electric transformers were damaged, cutting off power to thousands. Major rivers and streams are flowing above danger levels. Beas River overflowed near Ballah village, and 51 people were rescued by teams.
Authorities have warned people to stay away from rivers and low-lying areas. The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an Orange Alert for Kangra, Solan, and Sirmaur districts, and a Yellow Alert for other regions until July 5.
