EPFO Pensioners Good News: Minimum Pension Proposed to Increase to Rs. 2,500

Good news is on the way for EPFO pensioners. After nearly 11 years, the Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) is preparing to make a key decision to increase the minimum EPS pension. Currently, under the EPS-95 scheme, the minimum pension is Rs. 1,000 per month, unchanged since 2014.

While employee unions have been demanding a pension increase up to Rs. 7,500 per month, EPFO is reportedly considering raising the minimum pension to Rs. 2,500. This proposal will be a key agenda item in the Central Board of Trustees (CBT) meeting scheduled in Bengaluru on October 10–11. The meeting will also discuss the ‘EPFO 3.0’ digital initiative and other administrative reforms.

Once the board approves, the proposal will be sent to the central government for final approval. Employees who have completed at least 10 years of service and reached the age of 58 are eligible for EPS-95 pension.
