Rare Blood Moon on September 7 – Visible Across India
Skywatchers are in for a treat as a total lunar eclipse will occur on the night of September 7–8, creating a rare celestial phenomenon known as the Blood Moon. During this event, the Moon will turn a glowing red-orange color, making it one of the most spectacular sights of the year. The eclipse will last for nearly 82 minutes.
This rare event will be visible in parts of Asia, Australia, Africa, and Europe. In India, cities like Hyderabad, Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Pune, Lucknow, and Chandigarh will have a clear view, provided the skies remain clear.
The Moon appears red during a total lunar eclipse because the Earth’s shadow falls on it, blocking direct sunlight. However, some light passes through Earth’s atmosphere and bends toward the Moon. Blue light scatters in the atmosphere, while red and orange light reaches the Moon, giving it the famous “Blood Moon” effect.
Astronomy enthusiasts are eagerly waiting for this spectacular celestial event.
