Bhadrakaali Movie Review
Highlights:
- A story unrelated to the powerful title
- Dragging second half weakens the impact
- Disappointing content overall
- Feels more like a “lesson” than a gripping drama
Vijay Antony, who has a strong following not just in Tamil Nadu but also in Telugu states, is known for his unique story selection and character design. His latest movie Bhadrakaali, released simultaneously in Tamil and Telugu, marks his 25th film. Directed by Arun Prabhu, this political thriller carries a strong message but falls short in execution.
Plot Summary
The story spans from 1989 to 2025. Kittu (Vijay Antony) works as a settlement negotiator for corrupt politicians and police officers, while secretly using his earnings for good causes. When Abhayankar, a powerful local leader, faces chaos after Kittu kills his brother-in-law and siphons off crores, a battle begins between them.
Analysis
The film tries to highlight a clash of ideologies – power vs humanity. While the first half is engaging, the second half drags with an unnecessarily long flashback. The powerful title Bhadrakaali feels mismatched with the actual storyline.
Performances & Technicals
Vijay Antony delivers a solid but familiar performance. Supporting cast does justice. The background score by Vijay Antony is impressive, but editing lags. Cinematography is decent, while the execution feels uneven.
Final Verdict
Bhadrakaali has a strong message but weak narration. Despite its intent, the dragging screenplay makes it a disappointing watch.
