Education Department Introduces New Degree Courses with Apprenticeship and Embedded Opportunities
The education system, which has been following a traditional approach, is now undergoing significant changes. As part of this transformation, the Directorate of Collegiate Education has introduced new degree courses for the academic year 2025-26, incorporating apprenticeship and embedded opportunities. In the first phase, 28 government degree colleges (GDCs) will offer these courses.
Telangana has a total of 124 government degree colleges, and from the academic year 2025-26, 28 colleges will start offering new courses under the Apprenticeship-Embedded Degree Program (AEDP). These courses include B.Com (BFSI), E-Commerce Operations, Retail Operations, Tourism & Hospitality Operations, B.Sc in Pharmaceutical Manufacturing & Quality, BBA in Content & Creative Writing, B.Sc in Digital, Industrial Electronics, and B.Sc in Marketing & Sales. These courses aim to enhance students’ skills and increase employment opportunities.
The Directorate of Collegiate Education has confirmed that these courses will be available in government degree colleges. The main objective is to provide students with practical skills that improve job prospects. In 2018, 28,035 students enrolled in degree courses in government colleges, and this number increased to 50,477 students for the 2024-25 academic year.
