Amazon: Rise of Robots and Job Cuts – What’s Really Happening?

Amazon Crosses 1 Million Robots Worldwide, Launches New AI Model ‘DeepFleet’

Global e-commerce giant Amazon has achieved a major milestone by deploying over 1 million robots across its warehouses worldwide. At the same time, Amazon introduced a powerful new Artificial Intelligence (AI) model named 'DeepFleet' to improve the performance of these robots. The company says this will make deliveries faster and more efficient. However, this rapid rise in automation is also raising concerns about the future of human jobs.

Amazon CEO Andy Jassy admitted that as automation and AI expand, there is a chance that the number of employees may reduce in the future. Though Amazon claims robots are meant to work alongside humans, Jassy’s internal note stated that some jobs may no longer be needed as tasks get automated. This has sparked discussions on how technology could impact employment in the coming years.

Scott Dresser, Amazon Robotics Vice President, stated that Amazon is now a global leader in mobile robotics. The new DeepFleet AI model helps reduce robot travel time by up to 10%, allowing products to reach customers more quickly and at lower costs. He added that robots handle repetitive, heavy tasks so that human workers can focus on skilled jobs. For example, at a new center in Louisiana, the demand for skilled workers has increased by 30%.

Despite the company’s positive outlook, the CEO’s statement highlights the real concern — as automation grows, companies may depend less on human workers. While Amazon continues hiring in robotics and AI departments, the broader impact of this shift is becoming a hot topic in the tech world.
