Chennai, Sep 12: Actor and producer Raghava Lawrence, known for his philanthropic work, has converted his first home into a free school for children, using the advance he received for his upcoming horror thriller ‘Kanchana 4’.
Adding a personal touch, the first teacher at the school will be a child who grew up in that very home.
Raghava Lawrence shared the news on his X timeline along with a video, stating:
"I’m thrilled to share that my movie Kanchana 4 has officially started filming. Every time I receive an advance for my films, I start a social initiative close to my heart. This time, I’m transforming my very first home into a free education school for children."
The actor added that the house holds a special place in his life:
"It was the first house I bought with my savings as a dance master. Later, I turned it into an orphanage, and my family moved to a rented home. Today, seeing my children grown and settled, I feel proud to dedicate this house once again to a noble cause."
He further expressed pride in appointing the first teacher from the children who grew up in his home:
"This makes me even happier and prouder. I seek everyone’s blessings for this initiative and hope for your continued support. #ServiceIsGod #Maatram"
This is not the first instance of his generosity. Recently, Raghava Lawrence pledged ₹1 lakh to an elderly couple in Chennai who sell sweets on trains for a living. He appealed to the public to support them as well, highlighting his ongoing mission to help the poor and underprivileged through his ‘Maatram’ movement.
