Hyderabad–Vijayawada National Highway (NH-65) is all set for a major expansion into a six-lane road. Authorities aim to complete the Detailed Project Report (DPR) by early November, followed by the tender process by March next year.
The 231.32 km stretch between Andole Maisamma Temple (Telangana) and Kanaka Durga Temple (Vijayawada, Andhra Pradesh) will be upgraded at a total estimated cost of ₹10,391.53 crore — including ₹6,775 crore for construction and ₹3,616 crore for land acquisition. This translates to ₹44.92 crore per kilometer on average.
The project will include 33 major junctions, 105 minor junctions, 4 new flyovers, 17 vehicle underpasses/overpasses, and 22.5 km of new greenfield alignment. Additionally, 94 rest areas and 16 bus shelters will be built to improve commuter convenience.
In Andhra Pradesh, around 162 hectares of land will be acquired, costing approximately ₹1,414 crore. Officials from NHAI and R&B departments have instructed submission of all utility and land structure details by October-end for final DPR approval.
Once all procedures are completed, the finalized report will be submitted to both central and state governments for approval, paving the way for construction work to begin soon.
