A fire broke out in four coaches of the Karmabhoomi Express (12508) near Rajpura in Punjab’s Patiala district on Friday afternoon, causing panic among passengers. The incident occurred at approximately 1 PM, prompting passengers to move quickly to safety as railway officials and emergency personnel responded to the situation.

According to the available information, the fire initially started in one coach before spreading to three other coaches. The incident created tense moments inside the train as passengers noticed the flames and rushed out of the affected compartments.

Government Railway Police (GRP) Station House Officer Gurpreet Singh said that a short circuit involving a coach fan was suspected to have triggered the fire. However, the exact cause of the incident has not yet been officially established.

Following the outbreak, railway officials and emergency response personnel reached the location and began efforts to control the flames. Their intervention helped bring the fire under control, preventing the situation from escalating further.

No casualties have been reported so far. There has been no immediate information indicating that any passengers or railway staff suffered injuries in the incident.

Meanwhile, railway authorities were making arrangements to transfer the affected passengers to another train so they could continue their journey without further disruption. The alternative travel arrangements were being worked out following the incident.

The extent of damage caused to the four coaches remains unclear. Further details about the condition of the affected compartments and the arrangements made for passengers are awaited.

The incident near Rajpura has raised concerns over passenger safety, with the suspected electrical fault in a coach fan being a key aspect of the initial investigation. More information is expected as railway authorities assess the situation and establish the circumstances surrounding the fire.
