Akhilesh Yadav Challenges Yogi to Contest from Ayodhya in 2027

Samajwadi Party (SP) chief Akhilesh Yadav has challenged Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath to contest the 2027 Assembly elections from Ayodhya, intensifying the political contest between the SP and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). With the next state elections approaching, Ayodhya has once again emerged as a key focus of political debate.

During a two-day visit to Ayodhya, Akhilesh Yadav attended a Bhagavata Katha programme and used the occasion to criticise the BJP. He claimed that the party had not found a suitable candidate to contest from Ayodhya and challenged Yogi Adityanath to enter the electoral race from the constituency himself.

Akhilesh Yadav's Challenge to Yogi Adityanath

Addressing the political situation, Akhilesh said the Chief Minister should contest from Ayodhya if he was confident about his position and wanted the people to choose between good and bad. He also expressed confidence that voters in Ayodhya would make that decision in the 2027 elections.

His remarks add another dimension to the political battle between the Samajwadi Party and the BJP ahead of the Uttar Pradesh Assembly polls. Ayodhya remains central to the political messaging surrounding the upcoming election, with both parties seeking public support.

Bhagavata Katha Message on Governance

During his visit, Akhilesh Yadav also spoke about the values associated with the Bhagavata Katha. He said the teachings encourage people to move beyond the pursuit of power, caste divisions, social hierarchies and untouchability.

Referring to Lord Ram and Lord Krishna, the SP chief emphasised the importance of love and humanity in governance. His comments connected the religious programme with his broader political message about social equality and public welfare.

SP Announces Ayodhya Candidate and Welfare Promises

As part of its preparations for the 2027 Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections, the Samajwadi Party has announced Tej Narayan Pandey as its candidate from Ayodhya. The party is aiming to challenge the BJP and secure power in the state.

Akhilesh Yadav also outlined promises linked to the party's political agenda. These include annual financial assistance of Rs. 40,000 for women if the SP forms the government, along with a commitment that shops and houses would not be demolished.

He further said Ayodhya would be developed to achieve international recognition. These commitments form part of the SP's pitch to voters as the political contest for the 2027 Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections gradually gathers momentum.

The challenge to Yogi Adityanath and the announcement of the Ayodhya candidate highlight the importance the Samajwadi Party is placing on the constituency ahead of the next state election.
