The uncertainty over the Asia Cup 2025 has finally ended. The mega cricket tournament will begin on September 5, and will be played in T20 format. Due to the tense political situation between India and Pakistan, there were doubts over the event. However, the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) has decided to hold the tournament in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) as a neutral venue.
Though the hosting rights remain with BCCI, the matches will take place in UAE for safety and convenience. The tournament will last for 17 days, with the final match on September 21. Six teams will participate: India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Afghanistan, and host UAE. After the group stage, the Super 4 round will be played, and the top 2 teams will enter the final.
The biggest focus is on the India vs Pakistan match, which is scheduled for September 7. According to sources, all participating teams are currently in the process of getting approval from their respective governments.
There were concerns earlier that India might withdraw from the tournament due to rising tensions following a terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Jammu & Kashmir. However, BCCI officials clarified that no such decision was taken and that the focus remains on IPL and the England series. With recent developments, the path is now clear for a full-scale Asia Cup 2025.
