Rohit Sharma Honoured at Wankhede Stadium
Team India star cricketer Rohit Sharma received a rare honour from the Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA). On Friday, a stand at the famous Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai was named after him. Rohit attended the event along with his parents and wife Ritika. During the ceremony, he became emotional as he remembered his special moments at the stadium.
Rohit said Wankhede is a very special stadium for him and holds many unforgettable memories. He expressed his wish to play for India again in the One Day International (ODI) format at this venue in the future. He said he never expected a stand to be named after him and that it was a proud and emotional moment.
He thanked MCA for the honour and said it was beyond words to see his name among legendary players and political leaders. Other stands at Wankhede are named after legends like Sunil Gavaskar, Sachin Tendulkar, Vinoo Mankad, and Dilip Vengsarkar. Now, stands are also named after Rohit Sharma, Sharad Pawar, and Ajit Wadekar.
