BJP Begins Process to Elect New Telangana President
Hyderabad, June 29: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has started the process to elect a new president for its Telangana unit. A notification has been issued, and nominations will be accepted on June 30 from 2 PM to 4 PM. Candidates can withdraw their nominations on the same day between 4 PM and 5 PM.
Union Minister Shobha Karandlaje has been appointed as the returning officer for the election. She will arrive in Hyderabad on June 30 to supervise the process. The new state president is expected to be formally elected on July 1, likely without contest, as the central leadership may finalize the candidate.
Many senior leaders are expected to be in the race to succeed G. Kishan Reddy, who led the party during the 2023 Assembly and 2024 Lok Sabha elections. Leaders such as Bandi Sanjay, Arvind Dharmapuri, Eatala Rajender, and N. Ramchander Rao are among the possible contenders. The BJP is reportedly planning to select a Backward Class leader this time, ahead of the upcoming local body elections in the state.
