APSDMA Issues Alert to People in Krishna River Flood-affected Areas

Heavy Flood Water at Prakasam Barrage

Due to heavy rains in the upper regions, a large volume of flood water is reaching the Prakasam Barrage in Vijayawada. The water level has reached the full capacity of 12 feet at the barrage. In response, water resources officials have lifted the gates and started releasing the excess water downstream.

According to the Andhra Pradesh State Disaster Management Authority (APSDMA), the inflow and outflow at the barrage is being monitored continuously, and water is being released accordingly. People living in low-lying and riverbank areas, especially in Lanka villages near the Krishna River, are advised to stay alert.

Officials have warned citizens not to travel in the river, swim, or engage in fishing during this period. APSDMA urged everyone to follow safety guidelines and instructions issued by authorities.
