Anushka Shetty’s First Look as Nila from Kathanar Unveiled on Her Birthday
Chennai, Nov 7:
The makers of director Rojin Thomas’s upcoming horror fantasy thriller Kathanar, featuring actors Jayasurya and Anushka Shetty in the lead roles, have released the first look poster of actress Anushka Shetty from the film, much to the delight of fans and film buffs.
The team also revealed that Anushka plays a character named Nila in the movie. The revelation was made on the occasion of the actress’s birthday on November 7.
Taking to social media, the production house Sree Gokulam Movies, which is producing the film, wrote: “Not the tale you know, but the one rewritten by time! A timeless beauty... Happy Birthday, dear #AnushkaShetty. The face of our Nila &… #Kathanar #KathanarTheWildSorcerer.”
Earlier this year, the makers had also unveiled the fear-inducing look of actor Jayasurya in the film on the occasion of his birthday in August.
The film, which was first announced in 2023, has generated massive interest among fans and the industry alike for several reasons — one being the use of advanced technology never before seen in Indian cinema.
At the time of launch, the makers shared a statement saying: “Kathanar brings technology never before used in Indian cinema. The pre-production work of the film, which uses virtual production technology aided by sophisticated workflows like Tech-Viz, Stunt-Viz, and Post-Viz, has begun. Asset creation processes like full-body 3D scans using a 200 DSLR camera photogrammetry rig and Vicon-based infrared motion capture have already been initiated.”
They further added, “Hollywood films like The Jungle Book and The Lion King were pioneers in using this technology. Now, we are proud to bring these innovations to Malayalam cinema through Kathanar. The film will be global in scale and will be released in seven languages.”
So far, the looks of Prabhu Deva, Anushka Shetty, and Jayasurya have been revealed from the film.
Directed by Rojin Thomas, Kathanar is produced by Gokulam Gopalan, co-produced by VC Praveen and Baiju Gopalan, written by R. Ramanand, with cinematography by Neil D’Cunha and music by Rahul Subrahmanian.
