Amarnath Yatra: Over 3.07 Lakh Devotees Visit So Far
A large number of devotees are taking part in the Amarnath Yatra this year. The Yatra began on July 3 and will end on August 9. In just 18 days, more than 3.07 lakh devotees have visited the holy ice Shivling located in the Himalayas. Authorities expect the total number to cross 3.5 lakh pilgrims by the end of the Yatra.
On Sunday, officials reported that 3,791 pilgrims left from Bhagwati Nagar Yatri Niwas in Jammu in two escorted convoys. The first convoy, with 52 vehicles and 1,208 pilgrims, left for the Baltal base camp at 3:33 AM. The second convoy, with 96 vehicles and 2,583 pilgrims, headed to Pahalgam base camp at 4:06 AM.
Shri Amarnath Shrine Board (SASB) Chairman and J&K Lt. Governor Manoj Sinha visited the Baltal base camp on Sunday. He reviewed arrangements to ensure the Yatra goes smoothly. He also dined with pilgrims at a community kitchen and interacted with them. The government has made tight security and facilities for a safe Yatra experience.
