IPL 2025 Playoffs: Gujarat Qualifies First, RCB & Punjab Also Secure Spots – Mumbai, Delhi & Lucknow Still in Race
Gujarat Titans (GT) became the first team to qualify for the IPL 2025 playoffs after a strong win against Delhi Capitals (DC) on Sunday. This result also confirmed playoff spots for Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) and Punjab Kings (PBKS), making them the top three teams so far.
Gujarat Titans now have 18 points with two matches left. If they win both, they’ll finish with 22 points, which could secure the top position in the league table.
Royal Challengers Bangalore also confirmed their qualification thanks to Gujarat’s win. If RCB wins both remaining matches, they can finish with 21 points and possibly reach the top two, especially if Gujarat drops a game.
Punjab Kings have also booked their place in the playoffs. With wins in their next two matches, and if either GT or RCB loses a game, Punjab could finish in the top two.
Mumbai Indians have 14 points from 12 matches. They need to win both remaining games to reach 18 points and secure a playoff spot. Thanks to their strong net run rate, even one win might keep their hopes alive, depending on other results.
Delhi Capitals now have only 13 points from 12 matches and sit at fifth. They must beat Mumbai on May 21 to stay in the race. A loss would knock them out. They also need to defeat Punjab and hope Mumbai loses again.
Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) are still in the race but face a tough challenge. They must win all three remaining games and hope for favorable results. With 10 points from 11 matches, a loss against Sunrisers today will eliminate them. A win keeps their hopes alive.
