Metro Fare Hike Starts Today in Hyderabad

Hyderabad Metro Rail Fares Increased from Today

Hyderabad Metro Rail has increased its ticket prices starting today. The minimum fare has changed from ₹10 to ₹12, and the maximum fare is now ₹75 instead of ₹60. The operating company Larsen & Toubro (L&T) said the fare increase is based on the distance of travel — between ₹2 to ₹16 extra.

The metro team explained that this change was needed due to rising costs of running and maintaining the metro. During the COVID-19 pandemic, the number of people using the metro dropped a lot, which caused big financial losses.

Also, the free bus travel scheme by the state government reduced the number of metro passengers. So, officials said raising the ticket price was the best option to balance the costs. This change is expected to help metro services earn ₹150 to ₹200 crore in extra income.
