Indian Army Clarifies on Reports of Weapons Found at Golden Temple

Indian Army Denies Reports of Weapons Deployment at Golden Temple

The Indian Army has strongly denied news reports claiming that air defence weapons were deployed at the Golden Temple in Amritsar under an operation called "Operation Sindoor" to counter possible threats from Pakistan.

In an official statement, the Army confirmed that no weapons or air defence systems have been placed inside the temple area.

“Some media reports have claimed that air defence guns were installed at the Golden Temple. We clearly state that no such weapons or systems are present within the temple premises,” said the Indian Army.

These statements were made after reports quoted a military officer who allegedly said that, based on intelligence about possible drone or missile attacks from Pakistan, the temple authorities had allowed the Army to set up weapons at the Golden Temple.

However, the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC), which manages the Golden Temple, also issued a statement denying this. They clarified that they did not give permission to the Army to place any weapons inside the temple.

The SGPC stressed that the Golden Temple is a sacred place, and urged people not to believe such false and misleading news.
