New Delhi, May 15 – The Central Consumer Protection Authority (CCPA) has issued notices to leading e-commerce platforms including Amazon India, Flipkart, Ubuy India, and Etsy for listing and selling Pakistani flags and related merchandise. Union Minister of Consumer Affairs, Pralhad Joshi, shared the information through a post on X, stating that such insensitivity will not be tolerated and that these platforms must immediately remove the content and comply with Indian laws. The CCPA has also taken broader action to ensure compliance with national regulations. Earlier this month, it issued 13 notices to platforms such as Amazon, Flipkart, Meesho, and OLX for selling walkie-talkies without necessary frequency disclosure, licensing details, or Equipment Type Approval (ETA). A review by the Ministry of Consumer Affairs found hundreds of such listings—467 on Amazon, 314 on Flipkart, 489 on Meesho, and 423 on TradeIndia—raising serious concerns about regulatory violations and potential threats to national security. Minister Joshi emphasized that all sellers must strictly adhere to legal standards to protect consumer rights and prevent unlawful trade practices.
