A massive explosion at a military ammunition factory in the US state of Tennessee has left 19 workers missing, with officials fearing the worst. The blast occurred on Friday morning at Accurate Energetic Systems, located near the town of Bucksnort, about 60 miles from Nashville. The explosion was so powerful that it destroyed the entire factory, shaking houses several miles away. Thick smoke filled the sky as rescue teams rushed to the scene, but the intensity of the blast made it difficult to enter the area immediately.
Humphreys County Sheriff Chris Davis said, “There’s nothing left to describe — the place is completely destroyed. I’ve never seen such devastation in my career.” Search and rescue teams, along with explosives experts, are continuing efforts to locate those trapped under the debris. Authorities have confirmed fatalities, but the exact number remains unclear. Sheriff Davis, who personally knew some of the victims, said it felt like “living through hell.”
Investigations are underway to determine the cause of the explosion. Officials have urged locals to report any debris or suspicious fragments found nearby. Tennessee Governor Bill Lee called the incident “a heartbreaking tragedy” and requested prayers for the families of those affected.
