South Korea and US Discuss Cooperation in AI and Science

Seoul, Aug 5: South Korea and the United States held important talks on Tuesday to expand cooperation in Artificial Intelligence (AI) and strategic technologies. This meeting came ahead of the planned summit between South Korean President Lee Jae Myung and US President Donald Trump.

Science Minister Bae Kyung-hoon met with Michael Kratsios, the director of the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy, in Incheon. They discussed new opportunities to work together in AI, biotechnology, and next-generation nuclear energy. This discussion happened during the APEC 2025 Digital and AI Ministerial Meeting.

Minister Bae also suggested holding a joint committee meeting soon to exchange detailed plans. Meanwhile, top diplomats from both countries had already met in Washington to prepare for the upcoming summit, discussing regional security, North Korea issues, and stronger partnership in global affairs.
