The Election Commission of India (ECI) has begun the Summary Revision of Electoral Rolls (SIR) today across 12 states and Union Territories. The process aims to ensure that the voter lists are accurate, updated, and inclusive ahead of the upcoming general and state elections.
As part of the SIR, citizens who have turned 18 or above as of January 1, 2025, can now apply for voter registration, while existing voters can correct or update their details. The Election Commission has directed state officials to conduct door-to-door verification and address discrepancies to maintain transparency.
This special drive will continue until the end of November, followed by the publication of the final electoral rolls in early 2025. Officials have urged all eligible citizens to check their names on the voter list and register if missing.
