Rahul Gandhi Leads INDIA Bloc March in Delhi Over Vote Theft

Rahul Gandhi led an INDIA bloc demonstration in New Delhi as opposition parties demanded accountability from the Election Commission over allegations of “vote theft” and irregularities in the electoral process. The protest, organised under the banner of a ‘March for Democracy’, also called for the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar.

The march brought together several prominent opposition leaders, along with thousands of party workers and supporters. Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, Tejashwi Yadav, Akhilesh Yadav, Supriya Sule, Sanjay Raut, Shashi Tharoor, Sachin Pilot and Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy were among those who participated in the demonstration.

Police Stop INDIA Bloc Leaders in Delhi

The protesters intended to proceed towards the Supreme Court to highlight their concerns about alleged electoral irregularities and demand action against the Chief Election Commissioner. However, police personnel blocked their route at Bhagwan Das Road by setting up barricades.

The police intervention created a tense atmosphere as opposition leaders and supporters gathered at the site. The demonstration was aimed at increasing pressure on the Election Commission to address the allegations raised by opposition parties.

The INDIA bloc has repeatedly questioned aspects of the electoral process, describing the alleged irregularities as “vote theft”. The latest march was organised to draw public attention to these concerns and seek accountability from the authorities.

Congress Moves Supreme Court Against CEC

Alongside the street protest, the Congress approached the Supreme Court over allegations concerning the electoral process and Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar. Rahul Gandhi remained with the demonstrators and was unable to reach the court during the march.

The Congress legal team subsequently filed the petition on his behalf. The legal move marked another step in the opposition's efforts to raise its concerns through judicial channels, alongside its public demonstrations.

The allegations raised by the opposition remain central to the political dispute, with the INDIA bloc seeking action and answers from the Election Commission.

Chief Justice Declines Opposition’s Meeting Request

Before the march, INDIA bloc leaders had requested an appointment with Chief Justice of India Justice Surya Kant. Their intention was to submit a memorandum outlining their concerns about alleged irregularities in the electoral process.

However, the Chief Justice declined the request. According to the information provided, his letter to the opposition leaders indicated that discussing a matter already pending before the court with only one side could raise legal concerns.

The march in Delhi, the Congress petition and the rejected meeting request have added to the ongoing political dispute over the electoral process and the functioning of the Election Commission. The opposition continues to demand accountability over what it alleges are irregularities in elections.
