Nitish Kumar Showers Benefits on People: Announces Free Electricity Scheme

Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has announced free electricity up to 125 units for all domestic consumers in the state. He shared this news through a post on social media platform ‘X’ (formerly Twitter). This announcement comes ahead of the upcoming Bihar Assembly elections, which are expected to be held in October or November this year.

Nitish Kumar stated, "Since the beginning, we have provided electricity at low rates. From August 1, 2025, all household consumers will get up to 125 units of electricity free starting from the July bill.” This move is expected to benefit 1.67 crore families across the state. He also announced that the government plans to set up solar panels on rooftops or nearby open spaces with the consent of households, to be implemented over the next three years.

Additionally, under the Kutir Jyoti Scheme, the government will bear the full cost of solar power systems for the poorest families, and provide financial aid to others as needed. Nitish Kumar also made another important announcement regarding education. He instructed the Education Department to quickly start the process of conducting the TRE-4 exam for filling vacant teacher posts in government schools. He confirmed that 35% reservation for women in these jobs will be provided to residents of Bihar.
