Nagarjuna: Like Rajinikanth Sir Said, You Can’t Always Act the Same Way

Nagarjuna Says: Simon Role in ‘Coolie’ Feels Like a Hero’s Role

Popular actor Nagarjuna shared his thoughts at the pre-release event of Coolie in Hyderabad. He said that the role of Simon in the film feels like a hero’s role, even though it's not the main lead. He added that Rajinikanth Sir once told him that an actor should not always play only good characters. “Simon is a powerful role, and I liked it very much,” Nagarjuna said.

The movie Coolie, directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj with Rajinikanth in the lead, will be released on August 14. Nagarjuna said that to avoid getting bored on set, he chooses experimental roles. He recalled how people questioned his choice of Annamayya after Ninne Pelladatha, but he believes in taking risks.

He also shared a funny moment when Lokesh Kanagaraj approached him and said, “If you’re ready to play the villain, I’ll tell you the story. If not, I’ll just drink tea and leave.” Nagarjuna said he was impressed with Kaithi and had already wished to work with Lokesh. After hearing the story of Coolie, he found it exciting and asked, “If Simon’s role is so strong, how did Rajini sir agree?” He praised Lokesh for calmly directing on set and mentioned that he even recorded the narration and helped fine-tune the Simon character.
