Declared as Retaliation for US Strikes
Indian Embassy Advises Indians in Qatar to Stay Alert
Qatar’s Defense Ministry Assures Safety of Airspace and Territory
Tensions in the Middle East have escalated again. On Monday, Iran launched missile attacks targeting the Al Udeid US Airbase in Qatar. However, Qatari authorities reported that the attacks were successfully intercepted. It is believed that Iran carried out this strike as retaliation for the US attacks on its nuclear facilities over the weekend. In light of these developments, the Indian Embassy in Qatar has issued important guidelines for Indian nationals residing there.
Following the incident on Monday, the Indian Embassy in Qatar responded via its official ‘X’ (formerly Twitter) account, stating:
“Given the current situation, Indians in Qatar are advised to remain cautious and stay indoors. Please stay calm and follow local news, as well as instructions and guidelines issued by Qatari authorities. The Embassy will continue to provide updates through our social media channels.” The Embassy urged Indians to adhere strictly to these advisories. The Qatari government clarified that there have been no casualties or property damage reported due to the attacks.
Meanwhile, Qatar’s Ministry of Defense also released a statement reaffirming that the country’s airspace and land territory remain secure. The armed forces are fully prepared to face any threats. Citizens and residents were requested to follow information and instructions only from official sources.
Interestingly, according to Reuters, a senior regional official revealed that Iran had informed the US through two diplomatic channels prior to carrying out the attacks. While the situation has caused regional concern, the Qatari government has tightened security measures to ensure safety.
