Speed Post Charges Hiked – OTP Mandatory for Delivery

From October 1, Speed Post charges across India will be revised after 13 years due to the rising operational costs, according to the India Post. Along with the tariff hike, the department has also announced new modern facilities to enhance customer convenience. One of the major updates is the introduction of OTP-based delivery, similar to e-commerce platforms. From now on, customers will need to provide an OTP to the postman to receive their parcel, for which an additional ₹5 will be charged. Other upgraded services include online payments at the time of delivery, SMS alerts, and real-time delivery updates. India Post has also introduced a new “Registration” service at an extra cost of ₹5, ensuring parcels are handed over only to the authorized recipient at the specified address. To provide relief to students, a special 10% discount on Speed Post charges has been announced. With these changes, Speed Post aims to become more secure, modern, and customer-friendly.
