Indian Cricket Legends Praise Team India’s Historic Edgbaston Test Victory
New Delhi, July 6: Team India’s amazing win against England in the 2nd Test at Edgbaston has received praise from some of India’s greatest cricketers. This was India’s first-ever win at Edgbaston, and the young team led by Shubman Gill made it special by leveling the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy with a 336-run victory.
Jay Shah, Chairman of ICC, called Gill’s scores of 269 and 161 “innings of rare quality.” He also praised Akash Deep’s 10-wicket performance, saying the team showed strength and spirit. Shah said he is excited for the upcoming third Test at Lord’s starting July 10. Sachin Tendulkar also appreciated Gill, Jadeja, Pant, and KL Rahul for their batting and mentioned that Akash Deep’s ball to Joe Root was the best of the series.
Former captain Virat Kohli, who retired from Test cricket recently, said the team showed fearless cricket. He specially praised Siraj and Akash Deep for their bowling. Yuvraj Singh called the win unforgettable and said the team showed great fight even without Bumrah. VVS Laxman added that it was a great start to Shubman Gill’s captaincy and praised the entire team for their determination.
