HYDRA Clears Illegal Constructions at Madapur’s Sunnam Cheruvu – Rs.10 Cr Development Plan Initiated
HYDRA officials launched a major operation on Monday to remove illegal encroachments at Sunnam Cheruvu in Madapur, Hyderabad. For years, many unauthorized constructions had come up on lake land. Officials demolished huts, sheds, and other buildings built illegally in the Full Tank Level (FTL) area and took control of the lake.
According to officials, Sunnam Cheruvu spreads across 32 acres, and large-scale encroachments had been identified. Several unauthorized bore motors were also removed from the site. Using JCB machines, officials cleared many illegal structures and restored the lake area.
Authorities also found that a few people had been illegally drawing and selling groundwater from the lake area using tankers. This illegal water trade has been happening for years. Officials seized multiple water tankers involved in this activity and warned that groundwater usage from the lake zone is strictly banned. Meanwhile, the government has launched a ₹10 crore development project to restore and beautify Sunnam Cheruvu as a tourist spot.
