Google Data Centre in Vizag: Biggest Facility in Andhra Pradesh, 75,000 New Jobs Coming Soon!

Google to Set Up Asia’s Biggest Data Centre in Vizag with ₹50,000 Crore Investment

Visakhapatnam is all set to become home to Google’s largest data centre in Asia, with an investment of nearly ₹50,000 crores. The upcoming 1 Gigawatt hyperscale data centre will be the biggest facility outside the United States, making Vizag a global digital hub.

The official announcement was made on X by Invest India, highlighting that this project will be a game-changer for India’s digital economy. The Vizag data centre will strengthen Google’s ecosystem across Cloud, Search, YouTube, and AI services, while also supporting industries, startups, and government needs.

The project is expected to generate 75,000 jobs in Andhra Pradesh — about 25,000 direct jobs and nearly 50,000 indirect opportunities. Additionally, Google plans to power the data centre with renewable energy, including small hydro projects along the Vizag coast, with another ₹20,000 crore investment.

To ensure safe and high-speed global connectivity, the facility will integrate 3 submarine cable landing stations, enhanced bandwidth, and advanced dark-fiber networks. Cooling requirements will be managed using seawater, which is why Vizag’s coastal location was chosen.

This mega project will also store India’s critical data within the country, reducing risks of cyber threats and creating long-term benefits for the IT ecosystem.
