Corona Alarm in Visakhapatnam: Young Woman Tests Positive for COVID-19

New COVID-19 Case Reported in Visakhapatnam: 23-Year-Old Woman Tests Positive

A new case of coronavirus has been confirmed in Visakhapatnam. A 23-year-old woman from Maddilapalem tested positive for COVID-19, health officials said. She was admitted to a private hospital in the city four days ago with a fever. Suspecting COVID-19, doctors performed tests which came back positive.

To confirm the diagnosis, her sample was sent to the virology lab at King George Hospital (KGH), Visakhapatnam. The lab also confirmed that she tested positive for the virus.

State Health Commissioner Veerapandian confirmed the case and said the woman’s health is stable. She was discharged from the hospital on Thursday evening. Her family told officials that she had not traveled recently.

As a precaution, Veerapandian said district officials have been instructed to take all necessary preventive measures.

The Department of Medical and Health has also issued guidelines for the public to help stop the virus spread:

  • Anyone with symptoms like fever, cough, cold, or sore throat should self-isolate immediately at home.

  • Take medicines only as prescribed by a doctor.

  • Always wear a mask in public places and during travel.

  • People coming from high-risk COVID-19 areas or showing symptoms should get tested right away.

  • Wash hands often with soap or use hand sanitizer regularly.
