Accenture to Set Up in Visakhapatnam | 12,000 IT Jobs Coming Soon

Visakhapatnam, emerging as an IT hub in Andhra Pradesh, is set to welcome another international tech giant — Accenture. The company has expressed interest in starting operations in Vizag, planning a large campus that could directly employ around 12,000 people. Accenture has applied to the state government for a 10-acre land lease at a nominal rate of ₹0.99 per acre, Reuters reported on Tuesday.

Accenture stated that full details of the proposal will be shared by the state government. Globally, the company employs 7.9 lakh people, with nearly 3 lakh employees in India. IT experts say that Accenture’s entry in Vizag will boost local employment and accelerate growth in allied sectors.

Other Companies Joining Vizag

Accenture is not the only major IT company heading to Vizag. Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) has already announced a ₹1,370 crore investment, generating 12,000 jobs, with 21.6 acres of land allotted at IT Hill Number-3. Another IT giant, Cognizant, will set up its campus in Kapuluppada, investing ₹1,582.98 crore and creating 8,000 jobs, with land provided at a nominal lease.

Attractive IT Policy

Post-COVID, IT companies are focusing on Tier-2 cities like Vizag instead of metro cities. Factors like affordable land, skilled workforce, and less traffic make these cities attractive. Additionally, the AP government’s new IT policy, providing land at nominal rates and other incentives for large employers, is drawing more companies to the state.
