Godavari River: Heavy Floods at Bhadrachalam, First Danger Alert Issued

Godavari River in Full Spate at Bhadrachalam – First Danger Alert Issued

The Godavari River is flowing furiously at Bhadrachalam due to heavy rains in the upstream areas. Continuous inflows have pushed the water level to 43 feet, prompting officials to issue the first danger alert. Authorities have advised people living in low-lying areas along the river to remain alert.

Currently, the Godavari at Bhadrachalam is carrying about 9,40,345 cusecs of floodwater. The famous bathing ghats have been completely submerged, and floodwaters have touched the Kalyanakatta area. Devotees have been strictly warned not to enter the river for rituals or bathing.

Flood impact is also seen at Parnasala, a sacred pilgrimage site. The Seetamma Naracheeralu area and the Seetamma idol are partially submerged under water.

Meanwhile, the Tungabhadra Dam is also receiving heavy inflows of 1,28,453 cusecs. To manage the situation, officials have opened 26 gates, releasing 1,30,715 cusecs downstream. With both Godavari and Tungabhadra rivers swelling, authorities are closely monitoring the situation.
