The Andhra Pradesh government’s prestigious Sthree Shakti Scheme has received an overwhelming response. Within just four days, more than 47 lakh women traveled for free in APSRTC buses, saving over ₹19 crores in travel expenses.
On Monday alone, over 18 lakh women used the scheme, resulting in a savings of ₹7 crores.
Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu reviewed the scheme’s progress with RTC officials. He approved the extension of the scheme to ghat road buses and directed that women can show either a physical Aadhaar card or a digital copy from mobile for identification.
The CM also instructed RTC to display clear stickers and boards on buses covered under the scheme to help women easily identify them. Officials highlighted that women are extremely happy with the savings and benefits from this scheme.
